About your Araväda Experience
If this is Your First Massage...
If this is your first professional therapeutic massage, you may be wondering what to expect. Your Araväda Massage Therapist is dedicated to providing you with bodywork tailored to your needs. In addition to filling out a health history form, you will be asked questions such as why you are seeking massage, your current physical condition, medical history, lifestyle and stress level, specific areas of pain and any specific needs you would like addressed during your massage. Your ability to communicate with your therapist will help you get the maximum benefits from your massage. The more you can tell us about your body, the more we can focus on making you feel better!
Following this brief information gathering, you will be asked to remove your clothing. Your therapist will leave the room while you undress. You should only take off as much as you are comfortable removing. Any jewelry or other articles that might interfere should also be removed. A box will be provided for safe keeping of these items.
A sheet is used for draping during your massage. Your therapist will uncover only the part of the body being massaged, ensuring that modesty is respected at all times.
Your massage room will be peaceful and comfortable. The therapist may play music during your massage. If you find the music to be distracting, please let your therapist know.
To reduce friction on the skin, an oil, gel or lotion will be used. If you are allergic to certain oils, gels or lotions, be sure to tell your therapist prior to the start of your massage.
To get the most from your massage, make sure you tell your therapist any areas you would like special attention given to. This is your massage and you should feel free to give feedback to your therapist regarding any discomfort or distractions. This includes adjusting the pressure being used, the speed of movement, environmental factors such as room temperature, music volume, lighting, etc. To help facilitate relaxation, make sure you are breathing with your massage. It is common to hold or limit your breath when a sensitive area is being worked on. If you realize you are holding your breath – relax and breathe through it.
A 1-hour massage session at Aravada Massage consists of 50 minutes of hands on massage with 5-minutes prior to your massage for consultation and 5-minutes after your massage for re-dressing.
At the conclusion of your massage, the therapist will leave the room to let you get dressed. It is important to drink plenty of water following a massage. Your therapist will greet you at the door with a glass of water. Feel free to relax in the Araväda Relaxation Room for as long as you like, enjoying additional water or tea.
Most of all relax and enjoy your Araväda Massage experience.
